How to Add St. John's Events to Your Google Calendar

The St. John's website uses an embedded Google Calendar to display upcoming church events. One of the benefits of the Google Calendar is that anyone who has their own Google Calendar can display events that are on the St. John's site. Some St. John's members have found this functionality to be very useful. Instructions are below. (This information is accurate as of November 2008).

1. If you do not have a Google Calendar established, go to www.google.com/calendar and follow the instructions to set one up.

2. While viewing your Google Calendar, select "Add" in the "Other calendars" section. Then select "Add by URL". (See below.)

3. Each URL below corresponds to a different event category on the St. John's calendar. Any or all of these categories may be added to your calendar. Sequentially copy and paste each URL below (followed by the "Add" button) into the entry field on the "Add Other Calendar" dialog as illustrated beneath the following list of URLs .

Worship: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/stjohnsatlanta%40gmail.com/public/basic.ics

Circles: http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/nkar1dso76bmu1pi0r5m1povqk%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

4. Once you are done, you may need to refresh your page to reflect the changes you have made. The screen capture below illustrates what a personal web calendar will look like after the "Worship" and "Youth" categories have been added from the St. John's website. It is possible to change the color of any category on your calendar by selecting the down arrow to the right of the category name.
