Register here for Summer Day Camp |
June 7-11, 2010 |
All the elements of a traditional summer camp will be offered right here at St. John’s the week of June 7-11, 2010. Children currently in Kindergarten – 5th grade are welcome. Counselors from Lutheridge will lead five days of fun, worship, games, Bible study, fellowship, crafts, sharing and prayer. Day Camp introduces the Christian camping experience to children without them having to stay overnight away from home.
Day Camp will be 9am-4pm Mon-Thurs and Friday 9am-12pm, with before care (8:30am) and after care (4-6pm) to help parents with their work schedules. A snack will be provided each day, but campers should bring a sack lunch each day. Registration is $140 per child. We are almost full and space is limited and first come first-served. Once you register using the form at the bottom of this page, send in your payment and the health form linked below to hold your spot.
Each camper must fill out a Health Form to have on file during Day Camp. You can download the PDF file here or have one sent to you via email or mailed to a street address. For more information on day camp, contact Robby Johnson (Youth Director) in the church office (404.378.4243 x205) or email.
Our Theme for the Week: Keeping the Earth

|
|
| Monday |
Keeping the Earth (Genesis 1:26 - 2:1) |
| |
The Bible story for this first day calls us to great humility before God, as we begin to develop a deeper understanding and vision of who we are, and what we are to be about, as God’s people on this Earth.
God saw everything that God had made, and indeed, it was very good. |
| Tuesday |
Keeping the Covenant (Genesis 9:8-17) |
| |
Biblically speaking, the making of a covenant was a sign of both commitment and relationship. It was not an agreement written on paper; it was held in the heart and mind, and lived out in one’s actions.
God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” |
| Wednesday |
Keeping Life Abundant (John 15:1-8) |
| |
The fruit that we grow, bring, and share as followers of Jesus, is shown in our actions to offer love, justice, kindness, and peace to the world around us: to other people and to all of God’s creation.
[Jesus said} Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. |
| Thursday |
Keeping the Song Alive (Psalm 19:1-4) |
| |
Psalm 19, written so very long ago, makes plain that there is an ongoing song or conversation, a voice without words, which flows through and fills all of creation.
Day to day pours forth speech and night to night declares knowledge. |
| Friday |
Keeping Creation (Luke 19:36-40) |
| |
It’s hard to sit down and be silent, when you have something you’re just bursting to say and share with others. This is a day to review with campers all that has been learned this week and to discuss the ways that the Holy Spirit has been shaping and forming them as disciples, called to love and tend God’s world.
The whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!” |
